Exercise Physiology

ALLIED HEALTH SERVICES, MORAYFIELD

Exercise Physiology Services

Exercise physiologists are different to personal trainers as they apply the science of helping you reach an optimal health with the certainty of knowing your medical conditions and/or injuries are being taken into account.

Exercise prescription needs to be tailor made to suit each individual and ensure their health and wellbeing needs are being met. We are passionate about taking an in depth medical and injury history to be able to tailor a program for you.

You will be guided through your sessions and have the opportunity to have access to your online program where you can rate and give feedback as you go through your program at home.

Our exercise physiologist and physiotherapist work together to provide you with the best treatment plan and journey. Many of the conditions that an exercise physiologist treats will also require some hands on, manual treatment from our physiotherapist.

Exercise Physiology uses exercise as medicine, aiming to prevent or manage acute, sub-acute or chronic injury/disease, and assist in restoring optimal physical function or health.

These interventions are exercise-based and include health and physical activity education, advice and support and lifestyle modification with a strong focus on achieving behavioural change.

Accredited exercise physiologists may also assist with:

  • Assessments of functional capacity
  • Advice on lifestyle modification to improve health status
  • Exercise prescriptions for strength and function improvement pre- and post-surgery

Accredited exercise physiologists offer a range of services which include behavioural coaching, health education, exercise counselling and physical rehabilitation. Services include the prescription of tailored exercise programs, promoting leisure-time and incidental activity, and counselling to reduce sedentary behaviours.

This will include an assessment to ensure the activity is safe, effective and likely to be maintained in the long term.

Accredited exercise physiologists do not provide invasive services (except for point of care testing), diagnosis, joint manipulation or pharmaceutical medicines.
